On Wednesday last week, we spent a very enjoyable morning with Anna Flora. The sun shone on a breezy April morning and we made the decision to set our table out in the back garden, surrounded by bluebells and mature trees, with the rippling water of the pond as a backdrop.
Anna chose some gorgeous tulips and spray roses in shades of pink, with foliage reminiscent of a summer hedgerow, all set with vintage china pieces and tea pots filled with flowers. The fresh greens and pops of pinks were echoed into glasses and across the middle of the table with pink lady apples, cut limes and petals. Tall candelabras were piled high with blousy blooms that added oodles of drama to our setting. Each place was given a tiny sweet jar, filled with dolly mixture sweets and tied with a simple muslin top. Sarah Bloor (our calligraphy tutor) made the place names and menu cards from torn hand-made paper using green ink to hand write in calligraphy style.
A perfect setting for a run through of our ‘Summer Styling’ workshop, coming up on 22nd June where you can watch Anna working with fresh flowers and pretty foliage as she makes several arrangements employing various methods and floristry techniques. We will offer you a glass of champagne and a delicate savoury pastry as you watch the table setting unfold with ideas and chat about place settings, runners and table gifts.
Once the table is set you will be introduced to Sarah Bloor from ‘Inkspire’ who will teach you the art of modern calligraphy in our light and airy glass room. In a two hour session you will learn the art of pen control along with the skills required to write your own place names and menu cards; an enjoyable skill that lasts a life-time and is useful in so many ways.
Finally, you will take your seat at the stunning table and we will serve you with a delightful summer inspired afternoon tea, prepared by ‘Barbara Darling’, @:Toolerstone’s very own kitchen fairy.
A lovely treat of a day………hope to see you there xx
