Photography in the gardens…
Pick up your camera, leave your preconceptions behind and take a fresh look through your lens as you join us for one of two photography workshops we have on offer this Summer. Each workshop is set here in our fabulous gardens and you will be well looked after by our service team throughout your stay with us.
Introduction to Photography with Gary Holmes
Join us for a relaxing day of learning how to take better photographs with our tutor, Gary Holmes. This workshop is designed around fun and creativity and is set within 4 acres of beautiful grounds. Take your camera setting off auto as we introduce you to the finer skills of composition, exposure and use of light, as well as providing you with an introduction to the many different genres such as Portraiture, Landscape and the Natural World. There will also be an opportunity to experience a studio environment for those who would like to experience playing with the control of lighting.
Visual Story Telling with Jane Burkinshaw
This is a photography workshop with a difference. It doesn’t require expensive cameras and lenses – a phone camera will work very well. Essentially ‘visual story telling’ is the art of communicating a story through one or more pictures. If you want to move beyond snapshots and create images that really connect with people then you will love this workshop! It’s about you seeing a story, capturing it and communicating it through your chosen images. No experience is necessary as our talented tutor, Jane, will be on hand to guide you every step of the way.
Leo Tolstoy defines storytelling in this wonderful quote:
“It should be utterly infectious, where it infects the viewer with feelings he or she has lived through, so that other people are infected in turn by these experiences.”
